Bandizip Is Probably The Best Free File Archiver Right Now | Ghacks Technology News

Easy 7-zip improves 7-Zip in several ways | gHacks Technology News

easy-7-zip Plus, the program had to be available freely as well as I had no intention of spending money for an archiver. I reviewed Bandizip in 2011 for the first time and liked it a lot back then. The developing company has improved the application over the years so that it is not supporting all the features that I require from a file archiver. What those are? Glad you asked. Format compatibility - The program needs to support all major archive formats including zip, 7z, rar (including rar5), gz, ace, tar and others in terms of extraction, and major formats when it comes to archive creation. Convenience - Options to extract one or multiple archives from Windows Explorer and to open extracted folders after extraction. Other features - Unicode support is a must, as are options to customize the context menu and other program features. Bandizip ticks all those boxes.

bandizip After installation you may notice a new context menu that looks familiar but also a bit different. The first change is that the author has added icons to each context menu option. It is a small thing and you will notice that the icon is displayed in the root folder of the context menu and for all items displayed in the subfolder. What is not so good in my opinion is that it uses the same icon for each entry. The second new feature is that the extraction dialog has been improved. Instead of just displaying the output folder and offering to customize it, you can now select additional options: Open output folder - This loads the folder the files are extracted to after the operation completes. Delete source archive - Removes the source archive on successful extraction from the hard drive. Open Button - Opens the output folder when you clik on the button. In addition to that, it displays the http://7-zipdownload.us total disk space on the selected drive and the free disk space. 7-Zip uses different history files for archives extracted using the 7-Zip file manager and the extraction dialog.

Free 7-Zip Does More than Windows' Built-In Tool | PCWorld

7-Zip screenshot Or you can use a commercial program like WinZip that's packed with all sorts of goodies, but you have to pay for it. Or you can use 7-Zip, which gives you a couple of the most important features for free. It's available in 32-bit and 64-bit version s. Not pretty to look at, 7-Zip provides plenty of control for how you create your archives. For instance, 7-Zip can compress and decompress WinZip-compatible AES-encrypted .zip files. That's vital if you need to e-mail sensitive data, because the .zip format's standard password protection (the only kind Windows supports) is easy to crack. But with 7-Zip, you can share truly-secure data with people who use WinZip, PKZip, WinRar , PowerArchiver, and other programs. And if they use none of those programs and don't want to spend money, you can tell them to get 7-Zip.
